IOC/IAKS Award 2009

According to the published results of IOC/IAKS Award, Sports Hall Bale won a bronze on international competition of sports facilities. International Olympic Committee and International Association for Sports and Leisure Facilities, along with the International Paralympic Committee announced this year winners of IOC/IAKS Award for best architectural achievements of facilities intended for sports and recreation,  and IPC / IAKS Distinction Award, for projects that are specially adapted for athletes and spectators with disabilities. In the 20 year long tradition of IOC / IAKS prizes, this year was a record by the number of applications, 117 architectural achievements from 26 countries. 7 projects have been awarded by Gold, 9 with Silver and 8 with Bronze. Special Distinction received another 4 projects, while the IPC/IAKS Distinction Award awarded 10 from 54 entries. Most prizes went to the Chinese Olympic facilities, Olympic stadium, Tennis center and swimming pool Watercube, and China declared the overall winner. Along with Sports Hall Bale, bronze won yet another Croatian project, Kantrida Swimming Centre in Rijeka.
